The two huge growths on his nose attracted flies and made it difficult for him to breathe.
“I have this big old growth on my nose. They have little holes. That’s where all the puss comes out,” Roger explained on the show.
“I can’t breathe through my nose because of the heaviness. I have to move my nose because I can’t eat right.
“I haven’t worked for a while because everybody gets scared of me. Everybody laughs at me.”
Dr Lee suggested to Roger that the growth is a lack of proper blood supply, describing his case as extremely critical.

Roger is a 60-year-old man who is a Dr Sandra Lee patient. The Dr Pimple Popper celebrity has Rhinophyma, which has resulted in a significant build-up of tissue on his nose. Sandra Lee explains to Roger that rosacea can induce rhinophyma, which is a thickening of oily skin. His ailment gives him discomfort all the way up to his eyes.

Was The Man’s Nose Ever Cured
During an episode of Dr. Pimple Popper, Roger met Dr Lee and told her she was his last hope as hospitals refused to help him because he had no insurance.
Dr Lee said: “When I initially saw Roger’s nose, I thought Holy Cow! I couldn’t believe he has this level of rhinophyma.
“It’s the most extreme case I’ve ever seen. His situation is fairly critical.”
Dr Lee brought in expert dermatologist, Richard Bennett, to operate on Roger’s nose.
However, they both decided the risk was too high due to possible blood loss.
“It’s an extremely risky procedure. Blood loss is a major concern and could lead to cardiac arrest,” Dr Lee explained.
“It’s best to get Roger gets under general anesthesia with lots of blood around.”
Dr Osbourne explained the procedure, saying: “You’ve got to be careful and not remove the normal parts of the nose. If I were to remove too much of this tissue, we could go from one deformity into another deformity.”
Despite the difficulty of the procedure, the dup worked extremely hard on carefully removing the lumps without causing any damage to his nose or blood vessels.
A clip from an episode that aired for season 6 of Dr. Pimple Popper featured Roger’s life post-surgery, where he can be seen attending family gatherings.
“It took a long time to heal, but now my nose looks great. Old ladies are talking to me,” Roger said.

The condition causes Steven to have an enlarged nose, which hes lived with for the past decade. Over the past few years, however, the condition has gotten worse.
Rhinophyma is associated with rosacea. Its sort of a form of rosacea, Dr. Lee tells Steven. But it typically happens in the nose, and you get a thicken of the skin and its really oily.
Besides being cosmetically undesirable for some patients, severe rhinophyma can also block the nasal passages, making breathing difficult. Contrary to myth, rhinophyma is not caused by alcohol use and abuse, which Dr. Lee .
It is incorrect that rhinophyma is due to excess drinking of alcoholic beverages, she previously said. While alcohol can certainly exacerbate the condition, so can other trigger factorssuch as sun exposure, stress, exercise, spicy foods, caffeineto name a few.

Lee gave a helpful explanation in the caption of a 2016 YouTube video called “Blackhead Field of Dreams: Supercomedones & Dilated Pores of Winer.” Here’s what it says:
“A Dilated pore of Winer is essentially a large, solitary open comedone/blackhead. Dead skin cells get trapped and help widen this pore, and plugs up the opening. The expression of this plug squeezes out the macerated, white, soggy keratin/skin cells from the deeper portion of the pore. Once the content of the dilated pore is expressed, this whole process of the dilated pore filling once again with keratin is common. They are completely benign and are usually expressed for cosmetic reasons. A comedone extractor can be used to do this.”
And why the name “Winer”? That’s because the skin condition was first described in 1954 by a doctor named Louis H. Winer, according to a paper published in StatPearls. Winer was also a founding member of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Roger claims that a handful of hospitals refused to help him because he didn’t have insurance, so his illness has worsened. He has to adjust his nose because if he doesn’t, he won’t be able to feed properly because there isn’t enough room unless he lifts the growth. Roger further stated that because of the heaviness, he is unable to breathe through his nose and must obtain oxygen through his mouth.

On examining his case, Dr. Sandra explains that Terry has Rhinophyma. She had previously treated another patient, Roger, for the same condition.
It is a skin disorder that causes enlarged red bumps on the nose. The condition is said to be common among men between the age group of 50 and 70.
While Terrys exact age is unknown, he says he started facing this problem 25 years ago.
He further reveals that he has consulted other doctors to get himself treated but theyve all prescribed him a cream to apply on the nose, which has never helped. Terry isnt comfortable going to those doctors anymore.

Perhaps one of the strange and gut-wrenching episodes came when Roger, 61, from San Antonio, Texas, walked through the clinic’s doors.
At the time, Roger has two large rhinophymas on his nose.

What Happened To Terry
Dr. Sandra has always enjoyed treating the most complicated of cases.
Talking about Terrys nose, she says they are the biggest pockets of butter she has ever seen.
The cyst consists of enlarged pores, which break upon squeezing. Clearly, Dr. Sandra absolutely loved popping them, and from the trailer of the episode, it appears as if she got rid of quite a few of them.

Dr. Sandra Lee suggested to Roger that the growth is lacking proper blood supply, describing his case as extremely critical.

What Is Rhinophyma
Rhinophyma is a progressive skin condition that affects the nose.
It most commonly affects people with rosacea, with their noses becoming redder, swollen at the ends and bumpy.
Rhinophyma occurs due to the formation of scar-like tissue, as well as the glands that produce oil on the skin enlarging.
It is not genetic or linked to alcohol.
There is no cure.
On the first episode of the latest series, Roger met Dr. Sandra Lee, and revealed she was his last hope as hospitals refused to help him because he had no insurance.
But Dr Ryan Osbourne and Dr Jason Hamilton agreed to operatefor free through a charitable foundation.

Where Is Roger Now
After an in-person consultation with Dr Lee, his treatment began for the removal of rhinophyma. Dr Lee roped in Dr Richard Bennett to help her with the surgery and treatment of Roger. The premiere episode featured the duo working really hard on carefully removing the lumps without causing any damage to his nose or blood vessels. Unfortunately, the episode ended before we got a peek of how Roger looked post-surgery.
Although we will have to wait until the next episode to see his handsome face without the two grapefruit-sized lumps hanging by his nose, we got an update on Roger for you. A person claiming to be Roger’s family member commented on the show’s YouTube clip that his Uncle was doing great post-treatment. The person wrote, “And the day is here!!! My uncle is FINALLY getting his nose taken care of Thank you for all the prayers and support throughout this process. He is doing great and happy with his results!”
